2023 Memorial Day Parades throughout Connecticut

Memorial Day 2023 is held on Monday, May 29th and Memorial Day parades in Connecticut will held on May 27th, May 28th and May 29th. Memorial is observed on the last Monday of May every year to honor those who died while serving in the U.S. military. There are many Memorial Day parades in Connecticut.

Saturday, May 27th

Wethersfield Memorial Day Parade

The Annual Wethersfield Memorial Day Parade and Services takes place on the last Saturday in May. The parade will step off at 9 a.m. and will head west on State Street to Nott Street then to Garden Street. It will then proceed down Garden Street, left onto Church Street and then right onto Main Street. The parade will continue on Main Street, then take a left back onto Garden Street to Broad Street. The Reviewing Stand will be on the Broad Street Green. We will then proceed north on Broad Street and cross Marsh Street to the Village Cemetery (behind First Church) for the cemetery services.


Sunday, May 28th

Bristol Memorial Day Parade

The Forestville Village Memorial Day Parade Committee has announced that the Bristol Memorial Day Parade will be held May 28. The parade will begin at 2:30 p.m. May 28., with a rain date of May 29 at the same time

Colchester Memorial Day Parade

The annual Colchester Memorial Day Parade will take place on Sunday, May 29th starting at 12:30 pm. The Parade is a community effort supported by local groups that are committed to make this event a success.  We strive to show the pride we feel in our departed military veterans by asking local organizations and members of the community to step up and participate by making a float or marching in the annual parade.

Milford Memorial Day Parade

The Memorial Day Parade at Milford Green is a popular event that takes place on Sunday, May 28th. The parade honors those who died while serving in the U.S. military, and WWII veterans are honored by name during the remembrance ceremony.

New Haven Memorial Day Parade

Commemorating the men and women who died while in military service, the City of New Haven Memorial Day ceremonies will be on Sunday, May 28, 2023. Elm City and regional residents are invited to attend two traditional wreath-laying ceremonies and programs:

At 1:00 p.m., there will be a wreath laying ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park on Long Wharf Drive.

At 3:00 p.m., there will be a second wreath laying ceremony at the World War Memorial Flagpole on the New Haven Green.

Portland Memorial Day Parade

Monday, May 29th

East Hartford Memorial Day Parade

East Hartford Mayor Mike Walsh along with the East Hartford Veterans Commission are excited to announce that the second annual East Hartford’s Memorial Day parade and series of events will take place Monday, May 29, 2023 at 10 AM.

The event will consist of three parts, including a parade, program at the Fallen Star Memorial and celebration of East Hartford. The parade will begin promptly at 10 AM, proceeding from 9 Riverside Drive to the Fallen Star Memorial located at Goodwin University.

East Lyme/Niantic Memorial Day Parade

The annual Niantic Memorial Day parade is held on Memorial Day at 2:00PM. It begins near St. John’s Green (across from the Children’s Museum of Southeastern CT), and proceeds down Niantic’s Main St. ending at the East Lyme Town Hall. The annual East Lyme Memorial Day Parade provides an opportunity for all Americans to come together and honor those who have sacrificed so much in service to our country.

Fairfield Memorial Day Parade

Fairfield, Connecticut will host their annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 29th at 10:00 am. The line of march will run East from South Pine Creek Road along the Post Road to the library, then South along Old Post Road to Flint’s Corner, and then East along Old Post Road passing the Town Green and continuing beyond South Benson Road.

Glastonbury Memorial Day Parade

The Veterans Service Commission of Glastonbury will hold their annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 29th, beginning at 9:00 AM. Assembly time and location: 8:00 AM on Welles St. behind St. Paul’s Church.

In the event of inclement weather, the Commission will host a small ceremony on the Hubbard St. Green. They will strive to hold the parade except for severe weather, with the final decision made at 8:45 AM.

Mystic Memorial Day Parade

A Mystic tradition for over 100 years, the Mystic Memorial Day parade will take place on Monday, May 29th kicking off at 2:00pm on Monday from Water Street. Services will start at the VFW post around 3:15 with a memorial service led by Commander Landry and then their FREE chicken BBQ with, Burgers, Hotdogs, Macaroni Salad, Potato Salad, Clam Chowder and Clam fritters. The parade will be smaller but than originally planned but they shall March On. Veterans who wish to march or ride should be at the post no later than 12:45 for transport to the staging area.

New Canaan Memorial Day Parade

New Canaan’s Annual Memorial Day parade starts promptly at 9 am at St. Mark’s Church on Oenoke Ridge Road

Norwalk’s Annual Memorial Day Parade

Norwalk’s Annual Memorial Day Parade takes place on on the last Monday in May. This year’s parade will take place on Monday, May 29, 2023 at 10a. Traditionally, the parade begins at 10a at Veterans Park and ends at the Town Green on East Avenue.

Norwich Memorial Day Parade

Join us in honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice at the Annual Memorial Day Parade in the Chelsea Parade Historic District, Norwich, Connecticut on Monday, May 29th at noon. The Parade will commence at 12 Noon in front of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and will proceed down Broadway to the Monument Area of Chelsea Parade. Parade units are required to line up starting at 11:00 AM.

Old Saybrook Memorial Day Parade

The Town of Old Saybrook will host its annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 29, 2023 with a special highlight featuring military jet flyovers of the parade route between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

This year’s Old Saybrook parade will feature two ceremonies: a Dockside Naval Ceremony at 9 a.m. (rain or shine) followed by the parade at 10 a.m. ending at the Veterans Memorial Monuments on the Town Green on Main Street.

The day’s events will begin with the Dockside Naval Ceremony assembling at 8:45 a.m. for all participating units at the Saybrook Point Pavilion parking lot located at the end of College Street, with a Wreath Laying Ceremony on the Connecticut River at 9:00 a.m. (rain or shine).

Trumbull Memorial Day Parade

The Town of Trumbull hosts an annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 29th at 10:00 am to remember and honor the military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. The event typically feature veterans and dignitaries, antique cars, marching bands, color guards, schools, scouts, and sports teams.

West Hartford Memorial Day Parade

The West Hartford Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 29 at 10AM. Assembly of parade units will take place at 9:30AM in designated areas west of Woodrow Street on Farmington Avenue. The parade ends at Town Hall and last for about one hour.

Westport Memorial Day Parade

On Westport Memorial Day Parade will be held on  Monday, May 29, 2023 and will begin at 9:00 a.m. The route begins on Riverside Avenue, continues east on Post Road East, to Myrtle Avenue, to Main Street, and ending at Parker Harding Plaza.

Windsor Memorial Day Parade

The Town of Windsor’s Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 29, 2023, an observance will be held at the Elm Grove Cemetery located in Poquonock beginning at 8:00 AM followed by a ceremony at Veteran’s Cemetery at 9:00 AM.  Following the ceremony at Veteran’s Cemetery, the Memorial Day Parade will proceed to Windsor Town Hall via Poquonock Avenue. The parade usually arrives in the center of town between 9:45 AM and 10:00 AM. The 10:00 AM ceremony at town hall will include a special flag ceremony performed by members of Windsor scouting.
