Veterans Memorial Skating Rink (West Hartford)

Veterans Memorial Skating Rink in West Hartford is offering Ice Skating Lessons for kids ages 4 – 17. The Program Supervisor and instructors keep a close eye on and record the progress of each student, to ensure the best possible results. At the end of the class cycle each participant receives a Certificate of Achievement outlining all the skills they have accomplished successfully.

Warm clothing, and safety helmets are recommended. Snow suits are not recommended as they are too restrictive. Bicycle helmets are acceptable.

Rank beginners (ages 4-6) or skaters (4-6) who have never taken lessons can participate in the Learn to Skate Program. Skaters will learn the basics of skating which include marching and gliding, snow plow stops and turns.

For Skaters ages 7 and up who are new to the program or younger skaters who have completed Learn to Skate 1, Learn to Skate 2 is available. Skaters will learn the basics of skating which include marching and gliding, snow plow stops and turns.

Free Ice Skating at Winterfest Hartford Connecticut

Winterfest Hartford brings free ice skating, free skate rentals, free learn to skate classes and so much more to Bushnell Park in Downtown Hartford each winter. This is a holiday tradition for families near and far in Connecticut.

There is no age limit to skate, however, if you are under 16 years of age you must be accompanied by an adult to enter the rink area. Helmets are not provided, but we do recommend them for small children. Skates can be rented. The smallest size skate is children’s size 9, and the largest is an adult size 14.

Winterfest opens the day after Thanksgiving and closes in January. The are open Monday – Friday 12pm-8pm with the exception of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day.

Free skating lessons are offered on Saturdays in December & January. Lessons are from 10am-11am. More information about lessons can be found on the Winterfest Events page.

There is FREE street parking on Elm and Jewell Streets during Winterfest Hartford. (Thank you Hartford Parking Authority!)

Ice Skating is Back at Foxwoods Resort Casino

Foxwoods Ice Skating Rink and Winter Patio is open from November 25th – March 2023. Skate rentals and food at available. Ice skating lessons are not. This is a winter favorite for kids and family alike. Skate in the cool air surrounded by the warmth of thousands of holiday lights.
