While we hope for sunny skies\, we encourage everyone to come prepared for any weather conditions\, so don’t let a little rain dampen your spirits. Pack an umbrella and join the festivities! \nOne must-try food vendor at the festival is the Meriden Turner Society booth\, serving up delectable items such as Bratwurst\, Schnitzel\, Deep Fried Oreos\, Deep Fried Hot Dogs\, Ribbon Fries with Cheese\, and Funnel Cakes. \nPlease note that parking is not available at Hubbard Park during the festival. She is a musician\, researcher\, ensemble director\, conductor\, music teacher\, and language educator\, holding a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from Wesleyan University\, an M.A. in Ethnomusicology from the University of Sheffield\, U.K.\, and a B.F.A. in erhu performance and music education from National Taiwan Normal University\, Taiwan. She has published a music textbook (Music Textbook for Vocational High School\, 2006\, Kuang Mau Books Co.\, LTD)\, erhu music scores\, and erhu music albums that have been distributed in Taiwan and China. She has appeared in Carnegie Hall\, Lincoln Center\, Yale University\, and Boston College\, and has been directing Wesleyan Chinese Music Ensemble for over a decade. DESCRIPTION:The 2024 Connecticut Junior Conservation Stamp Art drawing Competition welcomes entries through March 15\, 2024. Calling all creative young artists and art educators in Connecticut. Entries are now being accepted for the 2024 Connecticut Junior Migratory Bird Conservation (Duck) Stamp Art Competition\, part of a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) environmental education program administered since 1987 by the Connecticut Waterfowl Association (CWA). \nPhoto Credit: Justin Hyun\, grade 7\, took first place in the 7th-9th grade age group with a painting of a wood duck. \nThere is no cost\, and submissions are due by March 15\, 2024. \nThis contest is open to all students\, kindergarten through grade 12\, who are Connecticut residents. To enter\, students create and submit a drawing or painting featuring native waterfowl (ducks or geese) — List of Eligible Species. \nAs part of a concerted effort to encourage more young people to explore the natural world and increase conservation awareness\, the Connecticut Junior Migratory Bird Conservation Stamp “Best in Show” winner will be featured as the 2025 Connecticut Migratory Bird Conservation Stamp! The “Best in Show” winner will also be an entry for the Federal Junior Stamp Contest. \nTo enter\, students create and submit a drawing or painting featuring native waterfowl (ducks or geese). There is no cost\, and submissions must be postmarked by March 15\, 2024. \nThis competition is intended to encourage more young people to explore the natural world and increase conservation awareness. The “Best in Show” winner will have their art featured as the 2025 Connecticut Migratory Bird Conservation Stamp! The winning submission will also be entered in the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Contest. \nTime to pick up the brush! It’s looking like a good weekend for some painting. \nFeatured is a painting of a drake wood duck from Justin\, a 7th grade student that took first place in the 7th-9th grade age group in last year’s competition.
