SUMMARY:The Annual Stonington Lobster Trap Tree Lighting
DESCRIPTION:The Annual Stonington Trap Tree lighting will be a visual spectacle opening Saturday\, November 23\, 2024 starting at 4:30 pm. Admission is free. This is a great family event so bring everyone you know and your kids. \n​The Stonington Lobster Trap Tree opens at dawn each day. The Tree will be lit every night between 4:30 – 9:30 PM until January 8\, 2024. Tree will be lit from 4:30 – 6 PM on January 5\, 2025. \n \nThis magical tree features beautiful hand painted buoys of more than 125 professional artists and 44 local families. The tree has thousands of colorful lights and a 5 foot tall anchor that rotates colors as well. Step inside to view the landmark from the inside and you’ll get incredible photos. \nOnce the Stonington  Lobster Trap Tree is lit you can visit it ​every night between Dusk – 9:30 PM until early January 2025. \nLocation: Stonington Town Dock\, 1 High Street\, Stonington\, CT \nFind the Buoy Holiday Scavenger Hunt is TBA. \nParking: parking is on the street so please take note of all parking signs and regulations as to not get ticketed or towed. \nPlease respect the art made by children and professional artists.   The Stonington Lobster Trap Tree is first and foremost a fine art exhibit.  Consider it an outdoor museum. As such\, please refrain from touching any of the buoys. While it is only natural to want to see the amazing work on the reverse side of the buoys\, the metal traps can scratch the art when buoys are turned. Instead you may utilize their website to view photos of both sides of each buoy.   It is your responsibility to insure that pets and children are far enough away from the buoys\, traps and lights so that they do touch them.

The first Village Fair was held on August 14th\, 1952 to commemorate the 1814 Battle of Stonington. With the assistance of more than 100 volunteers\, this popular community event brings together local and tourist alike\, for a fun-filled day of games\, music\, food\, and crafts. Entry is free for all—check out some of the highlights of the event below! \nAttracting generations of families and friends to enjoy a nostalgic summer day\, the Village Fair will feature children’s games and prizes\, 40+ local artists in the Artisan Row\, live music\, and food from Woodfellas Pizza and Captain Scott’s food trucks. \nVolunteers and sponsors are a critical part of running this annual fundraiser and community event.
