DESCRIPTION:Trees in the Rigging is back on December 1st! Join us at the Connecticut River Museum in Essex\, Connecticut for a full day of holiday fun. \nTogether with the Essex Historical Society and Safe Harbor Dauntless & Essex Island\, the Connecticut River Museum is pleased to reinvigorate this classic event. Starting at noon\, inside the Museum\, there will be craft projects for kids. On our North Deck\, we will have a Holiday Fair with many treats to enjoy. Don’t miss Steve Cryan’s 31st Annual Train Show on the 3rd floor! Later\, you can also celebrate the season by participating in a traditional\, lantern-lit carol stroll from Essex Town Hall to the Connecticut River Museum where spectators are invited to bring their own lanterns or flashlights. Check out the dazzling displays created by local boaters during the Boat Parade. \n12:00pm: The Museum’s Holiday Fair opens on the North Dock and Holiday Craft Activities are available in the Boathouse! \n4:00pm: Land Parade Assembly at Essex Town Hall \n4:30pm: Land Parade heads from Essex Town Hall to CT River Museum \n5:00 pm: Boat Parade begins. Boaters will be visible from the Museum’s dock and lawn. \n6:00 pm: Boat Parade concludes.

SUMMARY:The North Pole Express Steam Train Rolls into Essex
DESCRIPTION:Get on board to the North Pole where Santa is waiting to greet you with sing-a-longs\, sugar cookies\, hot coca and gifts. The Essex Steam Train’s “North Pole Express” is ready to leave the station November 14th – December 23\, 2024 and you need get your ticket before they sell out. This is a super popular holiday event (there are still some tickets available for Nov. 14th\, 2024). \nThe train ride last an hour and a half. Rides depart the station multiple times per day (check the website for full schedule). Children under the age of 1 sitting on a parent’s lap do not require a ticket. \nEach child will receive a small gift from Santa and children are invited to wear their favorite pajamas! Make sure those PJs are warm and cozy…it’s cold up at the North Pole! \nAll tickets are first come\, first served and can only be purchased online. All sales are final. \nAll passengers age 1 and older must purchase a ticket. Children less than 1 year of age may sit on an adults lap at no charge however they may not occupy a seat. If you would like a seat for a child under the age of 1\, a ticket must be purchased for them. No car seats or strollers are permitted on the train.

DESCRIPTION:The Annual Connecticut River Museum Holiday Train Show is in Essex\, Connecticut November 21\, 2023 through February 18\, 2024. This is a family friendly exhibit that is a must for the holiday season. The Connecticut River Museum Holiday Train Show is back for their 29th year of fun for all ages. \nThe trains will run everyday from Tuesday through Sunday. Hours are 10 am to 5 pm \nCome see what model train artist Steve Cryan has created this year with a fully operational 30-foot train layout. There will be “I SPY” scavenger hunts and toddler sized viewing layout so all can be a part of the fun. \nSteve Cryan never creates the same exhibit twice so if you came in year’s past you will be will find surprises around every turn. This year’s exhibit features more trains\, new scenery\, and lots of surprises to be found in the fully operational 26-foot model train layout.  Smaller visitors set can get hands-on at an American Flyer and Lionel Train layout designed for toddler size viewing.  The exhibit is a true locomotive extravaganza and a perfect outing for train fans and all who are young at heart.
